Input format and examples
Enter a bare address such as 192.168.1.20 or 2001:db8::20. URLs, ports, prefixes such as /24 and interface suffixes such as %eth0 are not accepted. IPv4 needs four decimal numbers from 0 to 255; ambiguous leading zeroes such as 01 are rejected.
The examples cover a private address (192.168.1.20), shared provider space (100.64.1.20) and documentation IPv6 (2001:db8::20). Documentation examples are not public destinations for connection testing.
Using the result in a configuration
A private result describes an internal address, not an external connection endpoint. If you need an internet-facing address, compare the homepage public IP with the router WAN address. Shared address space is distinct from RFC 1918 private space but should not be treated as an ordinary internet-reachable destination.
An ordinary global-address candidate is not a guarantee that a connection will succeed. Routing, firewall rules and whether a service is running cannot be established from syntax. For IPv4-mapped IPv6, the embedded IPv4 category is shown separately.
Scope and privacy
The analyzer covers common special ranges, not a live copy of every IANA assignment. Consult the linked IANA registries for the precise reachability status of special-purpose allocations. IPv6 transition and special allocations are not automatically described as ordinary global addresses.
Your analysis inputs and results stay in page memory; they are not added to the URL or browser storage. This input-tool page does not load advertising or visit-analytics scripts. Normal web-server access logs for the page visit are separate.
